Where in the world?

Where in the world did Sixbears go?

Here's a hint.

This stone circle is just across the US/Canada border in Quebec.

My lovely wife and I took our 10 year old granddaughter for a road trip. When I was kid, my grandparents never took me anywhere. Heck, they didn't even have cars.

We ended up taking the kid across a state border and an International boundary. Why not play tourist in a different country for the day? The kid is 10 and is already on her second passport. Besides passports, we had a notarized form from her parents giving us permission to take her with us. Also had a letter in case she needed medical treatment. Plus, we had to Canadian proof of insurance for the car.

Besides checking out the stone circle just across the Vermont border, we went about 50 miles further north to a crystal mine for their educational tour.

I knew my phone would not work in Canada so I brought along my old car GPS. Unfortunately, it did not have Quebec in the memory. We were reduced to using a crappy map and asking directions. By the way, my French is pretty poor. Also had the fun of constantly converting kilometers to miles in head. We took a few wrong turns, but we eventually got where we wanted to go. It's worth getting out of your safe zone now and then.

We plan on taking more trips into Canada. It's so close that it would be a shame not to.

  2. It sounds like all of you enjoyed the trip. Watch out - you may be training the kid into a wandering Life enjoying gypsy.

    1. She's already a gypsy. Right now she and her parents are heading to Acadia in Maine for a few days. The kid never stops.
