My trip to the Dartmouth Medical Center did not turn out as well as I’d hoped. My meeting with the surgeon was disappointing. I had hoped that a quick surgery could have fixed my issue. As it turns out the surgeon thought I’d be stuck with an open weeping wound that would be prone to infection.
Long story short I’m now waiting for appointments with other experts.
Long story even shorter: this is going to take some time.
Once again I’m in a waiting period for the next steps.
On the bright side, the huge lump is not cancer, so that’s good. Cancer among firefighters is a common issue so I’m counting my blessings.

Better the Dr. told you the truth than cut you THEN tell you you're essentially a non-healer.
ReplyDeleteI forget if you mentioned diabetes or not?
My beloved has issues no surgeon will touch so I understand.
Seems to me that , you have an honest doctor.
ReplyDeleteAs one who suffered the same type wound , in the same area. I can categorically state that he is right with his prognosis.
I too have poor circulation in my lower limbs and developed a severe infection from an open wound from surgery
Your history says the same about you.
Though a second opinion , with this in mind is still a wise choice.
It took almost two years for the large open wound to heal on my calf. Throughout which it hurt most badly and developed a
mersa type infection. Which required
continuous debridement, not fun and quite
painful.
Sux to get old eh
No diabetes, so that's good.
