Back in the woods

It was a great holiday with the family. We had a feast and then spent a few days together. I'm lucky that my family are the sort of people I'd choose to hang out with. We aren't just stuck with each other.

We even got to take the whole tribe to the Peabody Essex Museum. A good museum is one of the few things I miss living out in the country. They have excellent maritime displays. At one time Salem MA had the busiest harbor in the United States. The town wasn't just about witch trials.

We had friends watch Brownie the dog for us. It's been a couple years since she was left with someone for a few days. She was good, but didn't do much but wait for us. When she saw us she was vibrating with excitement. My lovely wife and I were happy to see her too.

The house was still in one piece when we got back, so that's a bonus. I'm going to be pretty busy catching up on things the next few days. However, I believe Sunday is a day of rest.

  1. Grew up in Ipswich & Gloucester. Never heard of the Peabody/Essex Museum, which is in Salem. We have been in the Nevada desert for awhile now. Don't mind Mass. for a visit, but couldn't live there now. Northern N.H. ain't so bad except for the cold.

    1. I guess the museum has been around for a while, but they've done some big expansions in the last few years.

My son-in-law works in high tech in the Boston area so that's why they live in MA. Nice to visit, but I would not want to live there. At least Salem is on the water.

    1. Excellent! Too many families dread the holiday because they end up fighting.

  4. My dog, who hasn't been by herself in a few months, pee'd on my side of the bed Friday when we went out. She was very happy to see us when we came in. I, as you might guess, didn't feel the same.

  5. I imagine you can use some rest after all that activity. I always enjoy my kids visits but I am just about worn down to a nub by the time they head back.

    1. It's nice to have the celebrations at the kids' houses. We come back to a house the way we left it.
