Yeah . . . no

Do I expect to see much unrest if and when Trump is called up on criminal charges? Each time that happens?

In short, no. The number of people who’ll resort to violence for Trump isn’t that great. For those that do, there are heavy precautions in place.

We’ve seen from the January 6 trials that those who resort to violence get the book thrown at them. An awful lot of them are being sentenced to the maximums allowable. That has a chilling effect -which is probably intentional.

Even hardcore supporters of Trump recognize he has a lot of baggage. They are looking for someone else to vote for.

My main concern of this post is not the politics but the dangers of civil unrest. While an extra bit of vigilance wouldn’t be out of place, things will not devolve into wide spread chaos.

  1. We are living in Orwell's 1984

Prove me wrong, my tables over there with the sign.

    Trump is Emmanuel Goldstein

Another figure who exerts an influence on the novel without ever appearing in it. According to the Party, Goldstein is the legendary leader of the Brotherhood. He seems to have been a Party leader who fell out of favor with the regime. In any case, the Party describes him as the most dangerous and treacherous man in Oceania.

    1. My Dad taught English Lit. He had a grad class on Orwell-ism as a way to teach the proverbial downfall of society at the hands of a "Moral" majority. Parts of Orwell can be boiled down directly from Shakespeare.

    2. I read 1984 back when it was a cautionary tale instead of a guidebook.

    3. You grok my comment well. It's used by the current gov.com as a guidebook.

  3. Trump has become an international clown. What ever happens to him he did to himself. He has become a non-entity therefore should not be taken seriously. A couple antivirals should make him go away.

  4. John I respectfully suggest that as Momma used to say, "it takes two to fight". It only takes a Media far too willing to misquote or fractionally quote ANYBODY to make them a laughingstock.

Or a subject of 3 minutes of HATE aka Emmanuel Goldstein for the PARTY of Orville's 1984.

  5. I don't want to go back into warrior mode again John. We will not get the back to CONUS breaks like the past skirmishes with little brown people over there.
