Don't Vote

Please, everybody just stay home. Don't vote.

I, however, will vote. If I'm the only one voting, it'll be all my decision. I'm comfortable with that. If you are not comfortable with that, maybe you really should vote.

Some years ago my sister-in-law and I were having a rather heated political discussion. We happened to be far apart on the issues. At one point I happen to ask her if she voted.

“No,” she said.

“Well,” said I, “I voted, so I guess your opinion really doesn't matter.”

The next election she not only voted, she worked as a volunteer for her candidate. My sister-in-law made a point to tell me how involved she was during that election.

It can be said that I'm a real inspiration to get out the vote. Most people really don't want to leave it up to me.

  1. I think the main reason why people choose not to vote is that they don't want to feel responsible when they are let down should their canidate win. As in 'Don't look at me - I didn't vote for the guy'.

Another nail-biter if you are a political beast and if you aren't, should be great theatre. Stock up on popcorn and let the games begin !

    1. At the very minimum the local races will always get me out to vote. It's those local guys who can mess up your life the quickest.

  2. I voted early. What is sad is all the mud slinging going on. It's a VERY close race here in GA. Unfortunately too many people believe what the ads say. Too much is taken out of context and put forth as the only fact. Will be happy when it's over but believe there may be a runoff in December.

    1. If it didn't work there wouldn't be so many efforts towards voter suppression.

  6. I, too, voted early. Things are tight and dirty down here in Texas, but to those who don't vote, I'm not listening to you belly-ache!

    1. It's down and dirty in the fine state of Texas this year. However, I think Florida has got you beat.
