Back and Forth

It was a good weekend. Not only did my lovey wife and I escape the ATV Road Warrior madness, we got together with good friends.

You reach a point in life where it takes a lot of effort to get together with friends. There are always demands. Some of my friends are dealing with ancient parents and their own children at the same time. Then there’s always work, getting in the way of life.

However, it spite of it all, a half dozen of us met at a campground and had a fine time. In the back of our minds was the fact that the clock is always running. If we don’t get together for good times we’ll only see each other at funerals.

We don’t want to be those people.

  1. You should never regret spending time with friends. The effort and scheduling fades in memory but the memories of the good times doesn't fade so fast.

It sucks to finally meet up with some of your friends to bury one or two of them and remember all the times you FAILED to make room in your life to share campfires and laughter.

  2. I just caught up with some good friends over the weekend. We've been trying for a while but, with him in and out of hospital after shattering his foot and ankle in 25 places and me pretty much housebound with chronic back issues and rampant arthritis, it's been difficult to find a window where we are both able enough to stand up. And it was bloody awesome fun. Do it while you can - there might not be another chance.

    1. The next time we have even the chance of doing this again is about a month away. However, we'll do all we can to make it happen. There's always an excuse to stay on the couch.
