Drought Maps

Some amazing US drought maps from NASA.

It's clear that even though there has been some surface water improvement, deep underground, the drought persists.

It's amazing how much of the country is suffering from serious water shortages.

By the way, notice the very tip of New Hampshire where I live. Yep, I'm Saudi Arabia of water. That's why my 5.5 foot deep well still has plenty of water.

  1. We had a bad drought back maybe 20 years ago here. I had some mortality in my woods and was talking to the local forester about it. He said that trees would be dying for 20 years from causes first set in motion by that drought, though most folks wouldn't make the connection.

    1. They get stressed, then bugs attack, then they are too weak for things they would normally survive.

  2. Did you see how dark red the Texas Gulf coast is? It has been many years since we have had sufficient rain here. This year has been dry, too, but not near as bad as last year.

    1. It's got a long ways to go before it refills the underground reserves.

  3. Hi Six,
Is it a typo or is your water well just 5 1/2 feet deep?

    1. No typo. Provided all the water needed for raising 3 daughters who loved to live in the shower.

Never went dry. Good water here in NH.
