Out of the woods

“We’re New Yorkers, and we’re going to get through it, but I don’t want anyone to think we’re out of the woods.”

-Mayor Bloomberg

What’s wrong with the woods?

“We are wild and free people, and we’re going to get through this, but I don’t want anyone to think we’re out of civilization yet.”

  1. I would rather live in the woods in a tent all my days, than be a millionaire living in a penthouse apartment in new yak city. Even the part time town living that I do, gets me down. It gets harder to come back to town all the time. But I have elder family to take care of. All to soon the last tie to civilization will be severed and I won't look back.

    1. We do what we have to do for family. My wife's minimum is to live on a road that's open in the winter. Ours is, but just barely.

  2. The woods is my friend in any kind of weather. My favorite place to be.

  4. I know they want help, yet I don't remember them rushing down here to haul water and ice to our old folks this past summer during our power outage/heat wave. Guess I'm not supposed to look at it that way.

  5. I live 20 minutes outside the town I work in.My place is on 4 acres, Ive got a big garden, heat w/wood ,and have 9 hens.I moved out here to have a sustainable life style. Now me ,and some othe folks are being harrased by covenant enforcement for having hens. Yet hens are ok in city limits. Im just gonna have to look harder for that montana property im saving for. keep your powder dry

    1. 20 minutes outside of a smaller town has some advantages, but it looks like silly rules have caught up to you.

Being a zillion miles away from everything isn't perfect either. Just ask anyone who had to make an all day journey to pick up a $2 plumbing part.
