So it looks like the House and Senate can't agree on how to fund Homeland Security. Anybody feel like their safety is in some sort of jeopardy because of it? I doubt it -unless they happen to work for a nonessential department.
Are there nonessential departments or is everything they do deadly serious?
This feels an awful lot like the times when the government was “shut down” because they couldn't agree on a budget. It certainly did inconvenience some folks. There was some closing down of Federal Parks to make it all look real. In the end it was business as usual once more.
Is this Homeland Security thing more smoke and mirrors like the general budget was? (or will be?)
Wasn't this stuff not supposed to happen anymore when the Republicans took control of the House and Senate? Looks like more proof that the Republicans cannot function as a block. Too many factions are unwilling to compromise. No doubt the Democrats are enjoying the show.
Now imagine if Homeland Security really did shut down. I like the idea. The best thing would be to break up Homeland Security into all its different departments. Then we could decided to fund the ones that work and defund those that are a waste and a hindrance to liberty. (could be a bad day for the TSA)
About all the average person can do is to pop some popcorn and watch the show. It's not like we've got a functioning democracy anymore.

They may be grossly immoral, but the democrats do a MUCH better job of sticking together than the republicans. The republicans are too willing to shoot their own men.
ReplyDeleteIt would not surprise me if the Republicans split off into two or three different parties. After all, that's how they are voting now.
DeleteWe spoke with Border Patrol agent and he told us con-gress wants to cut their wages because they are paid to much. Where we are is a lot of drug and illegal activity. I would like to see those clowns in con-gresss come down here let's say mid august, and put in a few days honest work when it's 110 degrees.

We spoke with a Border Patrol agent and was told congress wants to cut their wages. Where we are is a lot of drug trafficking and illegal activity. I would like to see some of the clowns in con-guess come down and do an honest days work what these folks do, let's say about August when it's 110 degrees.
ReplyDeleteThey are robbing from the little man every chance they get.
DeleteMy brother in law is about to retire from a TSA job, he worked back east for a company that paid it's top people and gave stock to others, worthless pieces of paper, he used the 9 years of Marine Corps service and is anxious to get on with some form of retirement he reaches 66 in September 2015..Just another ploy of those rich fat cats to screw people out of anything..My hubs pension we have been reading could go away to practically nothing, oh my God, he worked like hell for it and retired early cause the retail grocery store would not give him any hours and they treated him like crap, the union was ineffectual, thanks to God I got a teeny tiny govt. pension our social security/medicare isn't all that much, but we live & always have below our means, I use coupons until I could scream but I do..I reuse, recycle and repurpose and make everything from scratch and walk everywhere and bike too..I don't care what others think of me and am a hippy at heart my hubs is very careful of everything too, the health care payments to a HMO are not cheap but we are happy to pay that, we don't smoke, drink and use recreational marijuana and get by with good veggies, fruits and protein from chicken and fish and fruits of the sea..Why can't the govt. treat those who labor long and hard decently, our country is turning into a bunch of crap. My neighbors son is a Border Patrol fellow he is highly educated and chose to serve, now what is he suppose to do?????? He went to college and to the border patrol training place and is a fine employee, TSA's don't make that much money & are guarding our airlines and airports..oh, my goodness sakes alive!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteRetirement's not what it used to be. Promises have not been kept.
DeleteI worked for myself, paid into a 401K but used that money when I retired to purchase a motorhome. Now, the only income I have is S.S. and that ain't much!!
ReplyDeleteNo it ain't! I know too many people with nothing but small SS checks to live on.
DeleteI think it is, as you say, smoke and mirrors. All those folks will get back pay once they pass something. Personally, I'd like to see the Congress-people cut their own salaries and benefits. They should have to live like the rest of us and see what they're doing to us.
ReplyDeleteThey are totally disconnect from how most Americans live.
