The one reason to shop on Black Friday

There's only one good reason to shop on Black Friday: practice for the Zombie Apocalypse.

Zombie Apocalypse is used here as short hand for any major disaster: hurricane, currency collapse, impending war, or even big winter storms. The idea is that there is some sort of threat and everyone will be running to the stores to stock up.

Year after year we hear horror stories about people's bad behavior during Black Friday. Shoppers have trampled people to death and didn't even stop. Pretty horrific when you consider that it's all for silly things like a good deal on a flat screen TV.

Now imagine if they were shopping for essentials like food and water. If people throw out all decency for useless crap that's on sale, how will they behave when life and death supplies are on the line?

If you plan on waiting for the last minute to do your disaster shopping, might as well get some practice in this Friday, when little is at stake. You might get roughed up or even killed, but remember, it'll be worse when people are shopping for last can of beans.

As for myself, I'd rather eat tree bark than shop on Black Friday. Fortunately, I've got a few cans of beans in storage so I don't need the practice.

  1. All for specials they slowly last few months raised the price just to go back what they cost back before raising prices

neat gimmick for a shopping zombie lure

ex: $20 item raise it to $30 to discount same on Friday to $22 at "limited quantity available"

    sucker bet!

    1. It certainly is a sucker bet. They don't run Black Friday specials to lose money.

  2. I may run over to Wally World and see if they have any dry goods on sale that I can use the new vacuum canner I built on to put some more stuff up.
Other than that you won't catch me out and about for that nightmare. There is a Wally World about a mile and a half from here.

    1. Good luck with that. :) I'm curious to see how that works out for you or if you take one look at the parking lot and turn around.

  3. My wife is a little woman of five foot even. She says that she's been shoved down by crowds even when it's NOT a big sale day. She's also have women literally rip things out of her hands when she had the last one of an item. She's scared to even go to our local mall anymore, and these are white folks in what many would call a small town.

    1. Good plan. Christmas shopping is one of the things I hate most about the holiday.

  5. I'm with all y'all; I will not go out on Black Friday unless I have to go to the hospital or something. People scare me.

    1. Bad behavior is encouraged on Black Friday. At least that's what it looks like to me.

  6. We went to Wal-Mart today but only because we were out of supplies. I was surprised that there were very few shoppers there. Maybe we were just early enough to beat the crowd.
