Still building

It's been a while since I've posted any boat build pictures. There hasn't been much new to look at. The constant rain slowed the project down. The boat has a couple of new runners on the bottom, but most of my efforts have been on epoxy work.

The reason everything looks blue in this photo is that the sun is shinning on the blue tarp that's over the boat. It's going to need a good sanding before painting, but that can wait until the end.

After all, it's time to flip the boat over and new paint would only get scratched up.

My next project is to clean up the inside a bit. Excess glue needs to be cleaned up and rough spots sanded. After that the inside will get a good coat of epoxy.

There's a lot of work to be done on the top side, so it feels good to get back to it.

  1. Looking good so far. You'll be ready for the Texas 200 next year!

  2. Every step you take is a step closer to being on the water. It's getting there that's the important thing..You coudld say boatbuilding is a journey, not the destination. (In my case, a long journey)!

    1. Yes, it's a journey, but hopefully this isn't all that long of a journey.

  3. It looks a lot bigger than I thought it would be. How much will it weigh when finished?

    1. It's been described as the biggest 12 foot boat on the water. I'm guessing around 300 pounds. My build will be a bit on the heavy side because I've used bigger and thicker parts in some places.

  4. So far, so good. I'll be catching up to you very soon. The derelict van is getting scrapped out of my build space. I got most of the Trilo's materials on hand now. Just a few more things and it's a go.

    1. I put my foot through my deck, so that just got priority. It's always something.

Can't wait to see your boat come together.
