My lovely wife and I finally made it out to the river. It's only about a 20 minute drive from my dad's place. It was calm, sunny and about 75 degrees. Not a bad January day.
Here's the old bear rowing the boat.
If you look at this photo upside down it won't matter all that much.
Zoom in on the photo until you can read the two signs. One says “Snake Farm” the other says “Skunk Ape Habitat” That's a sure sign I'm in rural backwoods Florida. All that was missing was banjo music.
We stopped for lunch at a funky little restaurant on the river. They have a nice little boat landing so it was a good and easy stop.
This is the sort of thing that makes it all worth the trip.

Did you have gator tail and frog legs? Good eatin' on both of them.
ReplyDeleteWade in NW Florida
Not on their menu, but I've had them before. Yep, good eatin'.
DeleteBanjo music is reserved for the backwoods of Appalachia.....and maybe swamps of Florida.
ReplyDeleteI'm keeping my ears open . . .
DeleteIt's the time of year to be on the river there, I imagine. Summer would probably be too buggy.
ReplyDeleteBuggy, hot and too humid. That's why I'm here now.
Deletewhat is the projected BUG OUT too many bugs date in florida? Does that happen in April? Guess you might have to consult fisherman and bait shops to ask them about that.
DeleteJust saw weather forecast for Northeast. Your timing to leave was good.
