Danger on the horizon?

We live in interesting times. While on the road I didn't follow the news that closely. Now that I'm home, have more inside time, and unlimited Internet data, I'm catching up. Its scary out there.

One the big surprises was discovering the US military battled Russian mercenaries in Syria in February and killed a lot of them, possibly hundreds. Russia downplayed the whole incident. Maybe we should be grateful for that. Looks like they threw their people under the bus to avoid an International incident.

Israel wants to go to war with Iran so bad they can taste it. Of course, they want drag the US into it with them. Israel has some serious domestic issues going on right now. One way to push those aside is to have an outside war for everyone to focus on.

There are some serious financial problems quietly growing behind the scenes. Business as usual isn't going to cut it. Keep an eye on fuel prices, banking, and trade. We may already be in a trade war with China. Apparently they've stopped buying US soybeans. That's going to ripple though the economy as the market is huge.

Speaking of China. Did you know they won the conflict in the South China Sea? They successfully made a grab for more territory and the control of vital trade route. They did it by building basses on contested islands. Recently they added power missiles, that pretty much sealed the deal. The occasional US warship passing through doesn't change things one bit. Basically, those fortified islands are unsinkable aircraft carriers.

Love him or hate him. The President is in legal trouble. There is so much being thrown at him that something will stick. Did his new lawyer, Rudy, just throw Trump under the bus? I was surprised when he went to work for Trump as a lawyer. Rudy was shut out of any role in the new administration. After hearing him undermine Trump's Stormy Daniels case on TV, I had to wonder if Rudy was getting revenge.

Of course, collapse rarely has one cause. We've weathered all these sorts of problems before. Countries and civilizations fail too many problems hit, either at the same time or one after the other.

I don't know if we are looking at serious problems or if we'll weather them fine. However, I'm keeping a eye on developments. While you can't stop the volcano from blowing, you don't have to live on the side of it.

  1. Things do seem to be building to a head, for sure. The next few months are certainly going to be interesting!

  2. gas here in the last few weeks has gone from 2.28 to 2.38 to 2.58 today.
the only thing i can think of to do is pray for the president and the nation.
the rot has gone too deep and God will have to raise the nation the way He raised lazarus. it is beyond human ability to repair.

    1. I believe that God expects us to do the work with the intelligence and skills he gave us. It's up to us if we want to follow his guidance or not.

    2. if the majority reject God's guidance then the minority have one option only; prayer.

  3. Not sure if Trump is guilty of stealing the election, which was why the commission was set up in first place. Been 18 months since those claims were made, but people put under oath admit they have not seen any evidence of this. I for one want to know how the election was stolen, but they are keeping mum on this.

So 12 years ago, Trump has a one night stand with Daniels and pays her off for her silence. Anything criminal there ? Any laws broken ? Somebody thinks so I guess - I can't see it.

Special Counsel admits to wiretappping Trump's attourney but claims they aren't listening to the conversation. Are you joking ? OF COURSE they are listening, recording and acting on that intel gained. Like going to a peep hole and claiming your eyes are closed - that is just insulting my intelligence.

I think the lynch mob smells blood in the water and do not care who knows it - any pretense of staying in shadows is gone. Imagine what measures they would do against a regular citizen of the USA.

    1. I knew my one paragraph on Trump would get responses. That's fine. My focus here is that we have political instability and that makes things worse.

  4. There are times when I wish the talking heads would quit talking. We are being told too much and most of what we are being told is opinion not fact.

    1. Wise words Momlady. Unfortunately, too many people can't tell the difference between news and commentary. Facts are few and far between.

  5. Your take on the news depends on who you listen to. 90% of the media is controlled by a couple consortiums. They have a distinct agenda that promotes the hate America first ideology. Anyone who does not goose step along with their agenda is demonized as a racist, misogynist, warmonger who kicks puppies and eats babies for breakfast. I figure the louder they scream the better, it only means the side that is working for me is making some real progress.

    1. In the long run we'll have some answers. My guess is that nobody will be happy. In the mean time we have a paralyzed government that has difficulty doing day to day business. My focus is on the fact that political turmoil will make any crisis response much less effective.

  6. I can't believe you are buying in to the anti-iceberg rhetoric. Forging a closer relationship with the iceberg is going to make the Titanic great again. The problems are all the fault of those dirty Irish in third class that the previous captain did NOTHING ABOUT.

The media is owned by the lifeboat consortium who want us to waste more money on lifeboats we DON'T NEED!!! They don't want you to know about the accomplishments of the iceberg because it doesn't fit their narrative.
