Trisadexaphobic? Trixadexaphillic?

Trisadexaphobia is the fear of the number 13.

Now that we are safely past the Mayan Apocalypse, we can all worry the year 2013. If you are phobic about the number 13, it's going to be a bad year.

When I was a little kid, I remember hearing about Friday the 13th and how that was supposed to be bad luck. Being a contrary kid, I decided from that point on 13 would be my lucky number. I looked forward to every Friday the 13th, expecting it to be a good day. You know what, it most often was. Attitude is everything.

So now I'm thinking 2013 will be a good year for me.

Why not?

Besides, like I aways say: It's bad luck to be superstitious.

  1. I don't find the number 13 unlucky either. Others seem to think so too. Look at the number of 13's on the one dollar bill. The site below will explain more.

  3. Well if 2013 turns out to be a bummer,
hang around till the next year.
A good one is bound to turn up sooner or later...

    1. There's always hope, right? Besides, it's often hard to judge what's good or bad while in the middle of it. Growth, while good, can hurt.

  4. I have long tended to incorporate 13 into everything that I build if possible ie 13 inches, feet 13/16ths etc. Yet the items which I build tend to have very long lifespans...

  6. Fortunately I've never been one to let superstition get in my way. Except bananas. Don't ever bring a banana on my boat ; )

  7. I've known a lot of folks that swear the number 13 is bad luck, but I haven't noticed it.

I figure next year can only be better!

  9. I like the number 13. In numerology it adds up to be "4"...the number of stability (and, alas, stagnation)...the number of the archetypical elements of creation, and thus control of the same.

But, lol, 2013? My inner 'wound too tight' sort reminds me that adds up to "5".... a number of loss and low points. Damn, I may just gird up my loins after all, lol!

    1. In some cultures 13 is a lucky number.

      I'm hoping for a good 2013, but I'm a prepper for a reason.

I always considered 13 to be my lucky number too.

  11. Potentially Hazardous Asteroids (PHAs) are space rocks larger than
approximately 100m that can come closer to Earth than 0.05 AU. None of
the known PHAs is on a collision course with our planet, although
astronomers are finding new ones all the time.
On December 23, 2012 there were 1361 potentially hazardous asteroids.
    Recent & Upcoming Earth-asteroid encounters:
    Asteroid 2012 DA14
    Date(UT)Feb 15
    Miss Distance 0.09 LD
    Size 57 m

Notes: LD means "Lunar Distance." 1 LD = 384,401 km, the distance
between Earth and the Moon. 1 LD also equals 0.00256 AU. MAG is the
visual magnitude of the asteroid on the date of closest approach.

  13. I suspect 2013 will be a very unlucky year for those who are depending on the global economic system. For those who are prepared, 2013 may be quite lucky.
