Silent Speaker of the House

As of this writing Kevin McCarthy has lost 11 votes for Speaker of the house. I hope it’s been resolved by now. It a way it doesn’t matter. The office has been greatly diminished. Love them or hate them the Republicans had a record of keeping their membership in lockstep. That’s gone. It’s pretty clear that a significant segment of the party has their own agendas.

In the mean time we do not have a functional house of Representatives. If you believe they were sent to govern, they aren’t doing that at all. However, if the only thing of importance is power this could go for a while.

Electing a Speaker of the House is the simplest thing they have to do. This does not bode well for a the nation. It certainly looks like serving the citizens of the nation are way down on the list of priorities.

Don’t expect any Republican bills to make it into law. They weren’t going to pass the Senate or the executive branch anyway. That’s just math. One of the weird things this has done is to strengthen the Democrats in the House. Unlike the Republicans they’ve been able to vote in lockstep. Are we in reverse world?

The nation has a lot of challenges right now. Apparently any solutions won’t be coming out of the House. We may be looking at 2 years of rule by Presidential decree.

Miss Polosi yet?

Ha!

I had to say it.

  1. Many of the Reps in Congress posing as Republicans are in reality leftist infiltrators who pretended to be GOP to get elected in districts that would be tough for the left to win otherwise. Out of several hundred Representatives perhaps 30 of them are honest conservative true Americans. Most are either openly communist or quislings. The one thing that is certain is Congress is NOT on our side. They don't represent us. TINVOWOOT

  4. As of 8 mins. ago they still hadn't elected a speaker. **it happens when it happens, ya know? IF I remember my history, the term Leftist came from Franco's Spain, and he wasn't a good guy.

  5. I take that back, Franco borrowed the term from the French revolution. Supports of the regime are on the right, supporters of the people on the left. It eventually became a negative comment about disagreeing with another's political opinions.

  6. 6 bears please give an example of a "the people" supporting "leftist" in our current government. and give examples how that person helps "the people".

  7. Leftists are supporters of the various "isms". Communism, socialism, progressivism.... ALL political schemes to increase power for the elite few in control at the expense of OUR freedom and OUR money. It's not complicated.

  8. Well, they elected him at the turn of the hour around midnight. So, what's all this discussion about who is or is not a leftist? Non of us have ever had to worry about showing our papers to a black clad storm trooper pointing a gun at our testicles.
