Designated driver

My lovely wife and I lost a “friend” over drinking and driving.

At the end of a fun day, our inebriated driver refused to let the sober person drive his car home. He drove off without my wife, his wife, and a teenager. We called a cab to take us back.

When we got there, he was still angry about us not wanting us to drive and was throwing a hissy fit. My lovely wife and I left. That's a scene I wanted no part of.

We'd been friends for about 12 years, but not after yesterday's fiasco.

If nothing else, we showed a teenager that it's serious business to ride with a drunk driver.

  1. Can't give in to folks like that. Friend or not, common sense has to prevail.

    Lesson well taught, I hope!

    1. On can hope. A "friend" who acts like that is no longer worth having.

  2. Good thinking Six. It could have been a life altering ride for you three!

  3. No doubt... you made the right and life saving decision. Any friend would get that.

  4. There is no sense at all in drinking and driving. You made the right choice for sure.

  5. Of course you did the right thing in chosing not to ride with the drunk driver, but perhaps the friendship can be saved once the alcohol is out of the picture.

    1. Sometimes alcohol reveals things about a person they normally keep hid.

The world has over 7 billion people in it. Potential friends are everywhere.

    1. Thanks Ken. This is the second time I've had to deal with a drunk and troublesome friend. Still not really friends with the first one, but he eventually admitted he was wrong.

There's some uglyness I didn't mention. I feel good about getting out of a bad situation.
