"Civilizations in the final stages of decay are dominated by elites out of touch with reality. Societies strain harder and harder to sustain the decadent opulence of the ruling class, even as it destroys the foundations of productivity and wealth."- Chris Hedges
So how about a few simple changes. How about we limit what CEOs can earn to something like five times the amount the lowest worker makers. Believe you me, before long those CEOs will find all kinds of ways of raising wages for the lower paid person.
Want to have good schools? Outlaw private ones and make the elite's kids go to the same schools as everyone else. In no time at all public schools would become amazing.
How about we all have the same medical insurance that Congress has? If that's too expensive and will break the budget, then they can suffer along with everyone else. How long do you think it would be until they find a way for the nation to afford it?
Want to fix Social Security? Make it the only pension that Congress qualifies for.
Do these suggestions sound radical to you? If they do, then reflect on how you've been conditioned to accept your peasant status.

Now that makes perfect sense to me and I don't think they are radical at all!
ReplyDeleteWhere do I sign the petition, Sixbears?
ReplyDeleteAt the ballot box, for starters.
DeleteI have long advocated a maximum wage law.
ReplyDeleteWe used to effectively have this through taxation...not so much now days.
I just can't see how a CEO actually earns those millions.
DeleteExcellent, on target blog.!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bigfoot!
DeleteWhere is John Galt?
ReplyDeleteIn hiding. That's the problem.
DeleteUnfortunately stifling success is a recipe to subsidize economic failure which only limits what is available to you and me. Limiting income in the name of "the greater good" is a national suicide pact. It has been tried, Cuba, Venezuela and so many others owe its misery to the misguided ideology. Heck the idea of penalizing high income earners was tried here a few years ago and all it did was cause a bunch of luxury boat builders and aviation industries to shut down and left boat carpenters and private aviation workers (you and me) out of work. Outlawing private schools will never improve the public ones and will only eliminate choice. Ultimately you only subjugate us all to the bureaucracy and corruption of government. Same as the recent attempts at "universal healthcare" AKA socialized medicine has. And I am facing that demon in my choice of cancer treatment today .
ReplyDeleteI hope you find an acceptable cancer treatment.
DeleteMy concern is that nations fall apart when the wealthy and the poor are so far apart that they can't understand each other. That never ends well.
And you hit upon the socialist fallacy promogulated in the original post.....
DeleteRather than raise the poor up (which, here in the US they have the right and the possibility of doing) the Leftists want to drag everyone down to the lowest level. Never compensate folks for excellence, only mediocrity.
having said that, I think Congress (paid for via taxes (mostly on the income of the "rich", BTW)) should not get more health care or pension than the rest of the citizens.
But private enterprise having limits on compensation placed by the Government? Recipie for disaster as stated above.
Private schools? Wanna fix public schools? Go Vouchers, let 'em compete for the education dollar rather than have a more or less monopoly. Competition will raise the level of schools much higher than dragging everyone down to the level and having no competition.
and now your programming is complete.
DeleteCommon sense solutions are beyond our leaders ability to understand.
ReplyDeleteI am amazed at the stupidity and greed of our so called leaders.
DeleteI agree with all but the schools. They're nothing but propaganda mills and that will NEVER change.
ReplyDeleteAll schools have propaganda. What's the alternative?
