Eyes Open

I've been pretty concerned about the news lately. There's plenty of things out there to worry about. However, we should be concerned about the stuff that hardly anybody's talking about. One small example: has anyone heard about the US being behind a potential invasion of Venezuela? That might be just the thing to divert attention from the mid-term elections. At some level, everything is politics.

Then you've got to ask yourselves if there's serious things world governments are hiding from their populations. Leaders have plenty of incentive to hide massive problems. It's the only way to keep things running on an even keel. If Joe Sixpack knew something serious was about to happen, he'd worry about taking care of his family. That might mean he wouldn't see the point of going to work to make his corporate masters happy. There's incentive to keep the economy running smoothly as long as possible.

Do the elite see things coming down the pike? Look at the number of the truly rich who are doubling down on their personal safety. It goes from elaborate safe rooms to compounds with full security. Heck, when I see the richest people in the world building their own space programs, it gives me pause. Sure, every multi-billionaire needs a hobby, but setting up a colony on the Moon or Mars is something else. Looks like the ultimate bug out location.

A number of disturbing things have come to my attention, but I don't have enough facts to make them public. In fact, my information could be totally false. However, what does your gut tell you? Am I the only one who has an uneasy feeling about the future?

Normally this blog tends towards practical nuts and bolts sort of things. Due to my personal unease I've decided to voice my feelings and suspicions.

  1. I have a good friend who is a retired cop. He is plugged into the 'good old boy cop network' and usually knows what is going on behind the scenes. According to him, we have every reason to worry. This man doesn't scare easily nor is he into conspiracy theories. When he tells me now is the time to fill in any gaps in my preps, I believe him. Just sayin'.

    1. Thanks for the info. I wonder what part of the country he's in. Also, if he's connected to a larger city area.

    2. Sixbears, he is in central Minnesota. He is an old classmate of mine who served in Vietnam and then went into law enforcement. He still teaches martial arts and conceal carry classes at age 72 and travels within the state for those. He keeps his ear to the ground. There was an incident not 10 miles from where I live near Minneapolis, with 75 - 100 Somali men and boys crashing the gates of an amusement park and raising hell. My friend who lives 100 miles away knew about it before I did. He is one of the few people I completely trust.

    1. Yeah, that's pretty much it. It has caused me to intensify my efforts -but so does cooler weather.

  3. War in our own hemisphere ? What a novel concept ! Then freedom fighters can carry small nukes here in a backpack...
I'm sure the Cartels purchased a few from Russia back when...
Yes indeed, I'm thinking about that possibility. It's either that or a complete and total depression of our economy.

    1. I'm not sure of the Russian small nukes, but a lot of them have tritium triggers. Tritium has a half life of about twelve and a half years. Of course, even if the triggers fail, it could make a nasty dirty bomb.

The economy is hitting a wall. Frankly, I'm surprised it's been holding together as long as it has.

  4. 'at some level everything is politics.'.
in other words, at some level everything is hellbound.
the Bible tells us there will be wars and rumors of wars. also there will be earthquakes in divers places.
and these are just the tip of the iceberg.
i worry and i hear the u.s. dollar will be usurped by a coalition of other nations .
only God Himself can clean up our government and turn the nation toward Himself. that is why we pray.
not even tomorrow is guaranteed us.
my only hope is in Jesus and His mercy.
some say religion is a crutch for the weak. i am weak. i need a crutch.
in my life recent tragedy has struck unexpectedly. i have to rely on God.
if you have a gut warning pay attention to it.
i have been told to lay in water, so will try to store some when we are moved out of here.
have read that food will be scarce.
ferfal at 'surviving argentina' has excellent advice. says have cash, passport, and lay in food. i add toilet paper to that list.
it is that sense of impending doom, like when storms threaten and you feel the same type of sense.
have not heard of invading venezuela.
but have heard that the superrich are building bunkers in new zealand and some other places. surely they do have inside information.it is all beyond our knowing, but you have picked up on some of the telltale signs.
the rich are surely preparing for something big.
the Bible tells us that after the next big war people will come up out of the earth from their hiding places.
it gives excellent descriptions of what can only be nuclear warfare and its aftermath.
nothing comforting to be derived from the real news.
after all, to politicians and rich people we are all expendable.

  5. I realize that you and I are worlds apart politically, but I think it would be political suicide for Trump to get us into a war ANYWHERE for ANY reason. I also think that the force of Trump's personality is the only thing keeping the commies at bay for now. After he goes out, I believe the commies will triumph, no matter how many "republicans" are in office. Things will turn into a whirlwind then.

    1. Personally, I think Trump is reckless enough to support a war if he thinks it will benefit him. Also he has surrounded himself with generals. I'm also concerned to John Bolton back in a position of power. He loves a good war.

  6. I had never thought of the filthy rich developing their own space programs as a means of escaping something nasty.

Now with that in mind, I guess as soon as a moon base becomes self sustaining, and it'll happen faster than we think, it would be a good time to hunker down.

We peons will be on our own, even more than we already are.

  7. The world seems to be relatively calm right now, not good for the global billionaires. We need to keep the war machine working so the billionaires have a cash flow for their yachts, jets, sports teams and now rocket ship rides.

Taking military action against Venezuela is stupid. Just send the Clinton's hit man down there and it will be taken care of by dinnertime today! Seriously though, if we can talk with NK, why can’t we talk with Maduro?

There’s a lot more to this story and I see two things that are disturbing. One, maybe the US really doesn’t have the oil reserves people are talking about. The other, maybe the USA wants our troops there first and not the Chinese or Russians who both need oil.

    1. Fracking operations have a thin profit margin at best. If environmental damage would be factored in, it's a big loser. It never made sense to me to destroy water aquifers that could provide water for generations for an oil well that only produces for a few years. You can't drink oil.

I don't know how many US troops are on the move. It might be done by proxies. We still have a lot of pull with Columbia and Brazil. Brazil also has some potential US military contracts on the line, so that could be a factor. It gets complicated south of the Us border.
