Shooting in Lewiston Maine

As of the writing of this blog the person of interest in the Lewiston shooting is still at large. I don’t want to get ahead of any facts so I’m not going to speculate too much.

Lewiston Maine is fairly close to where I live. It’s close enough that it’s a reasonable day trip. In any given year I go there fairly often.

There is one thing that bothers me about the police response. They put in a shelter in place order. My first impulse is get the heck out of Dodge. If don’t want to wait around to see if the shooter shows up at your house you have a few options.

You can get out of Dodge before the authorities lock down everything. You can hope the lockdown is porous enough to drive around any road blocks. Perhaps you have a good story about why you have to leave. Maybe a medical emergency? Another option is have a back door out of your area, like a little used fire road.

I’m thinking that sometimes the best defense is a hasty retreat.

    1. True but this guy appears to know his way around combat. Mainers, in general, are pretty well armed but I wouldn't mind the LEOs doing their job.

  2. I don't know Spud, right now plenty of trigger-happy police around. You could get shot for "resisting" when you didn't even see the police sneaking around your back woods.

I was pretty amazed how fast the FBI had a force there "advising" when their travel time from Boston using a instantly ready chopper was over twice their announced arrival time.

Seems to me the numbers and locations of the mass shooting continues to change hourly. Not a Walmart Distribution Center anymore, over 20 dead now is 8. Curious indeed.

    Interesting times, we be having.

    1. Another weird thing: The Walmart shooting, that happened at the same time, is now claimed to be an unrelated event.

    1. I think they actually found him in a dumpster next to the recycling co. he was working at. It was across the river from where the boat dock was. It was a sad, sad line of events. He should have never been able to own a weapon at that point in his, "Problem" Sad...

    2. Apparently 2 weeks of mental health treatment wasn't nearly enough.

    3. There were reported signs, and still it happened. A breakdown in the system.

    4. I am SO TIRED of the FBI crap message "He was on our Radar".

They seem almost proud that they had reams of social media posts of killing everybody, have a mental health referral and so on, yet they CAN BE ON SITE within moments when the crazy goes Active.

Almost like they scheduled it to me. Once is an accident, twice is happenstance, three or more times is ENEMY ACTION.
