School Loan Relief

Imagine if I just paid off all my student loans and now people are getting loan forgiveness. Want to know how I’d feel about that? I’d feel just fine. I’m not a jerk. Just because I suffered it doesn’t mean other people have to suffer. That’s progress in my mind.

This will be a good boost to the average working class American. It will help the economy overall as people will have more spending power.

Will it be inflationary? Maybe, but it doesn’t have to be. The rich and major corporations get huge tax breaks and special assistance. If they have to get a bit less so the working poor get a bit more -well, I’m fine with that.

Some people are upset with this deal because it will make Joe Biden look good. How petty can one get?

For the record I dropped out of college after one semester because I was afraid of debt. I wasn’t sure that school was taking me where I wanted to go and didn’t want to go into debt while figuring that out. I went back to school at age 37 as a part of retraining program after being too injured to be a firefighter. Yep, I benefited from a government program and don’t feel bad about it at all.

I’m happy for all those people are now getting some financial relief. Their joy fills me with joy -because I’m not a monster.

  1. i have several problems with it. he doesn't have the authority. there is no plan to keep colleges from rising tuition to match, thus making it even harder. it re-enforces the entitlement mentality. several others i just don't have time to list.

    1. Well, he did it so it looks like he had the authority. Colleges would have to expect this to happen again to raise prices. As it is they are already been seen as a bad deal. I'm more concerned about the entitlement of Big Oil and other major companies.

    2. just b/c he did it doesn't mean he has the legal authority to do so, it just means no one has challenged him on it. colleges DO figure thi will become a thing so... big oil/etc.LOL. LOL, LOL.

  2. When I went to college back in very late '80's / early 90's, I spent savings I had kept (+/- $17,000) for about a year of college. Parents and I had worked out a deal - I payed for school tuition and other school expenses, they would foot the lodging and food. I ran out of money about the 1st summer session after a full year and decided to take a break - and never went back.

No school debt, but I could have kept the $17,000 and added on even more if it had been decided not to go to school at all. Consequences - my decision and I have no one to blame but myself.

  3. The vast majority of people in debt from such loans are not productive members of society. If they were they woul have studied something useful and paid off their debt. This "forgiveness"....which the POTUS actually lacks the authority to do...will do NOTHING but enable useless morons tobe more useless. It's a bald faced attempt to buy votes and support for the criminal left.

    1. He already had those votes. I don't know where this lack of authority myth comes from. Must be from one of those non-news channels. You should have seen the look of relief and joy on the face of my niece when she discovered she now has a chance of getting ahead in life.

  4. Howdy, I returned to the academic student-dumb at an older age myself. I graduated after more years taking classes than I would have cared for, but hey. I am happy Pres. Biden has taken that step to free many of us from that extra burden. Collectively the whole country will benefit, young and oldish alike. Those poopooers, well you know what I think.
    Peace and Balance,

  5. Whatever happened to “ask not what your country can do for you, it what can I do for my country”. It’s the difference between givers and takers.

    4. I don't know anyone who will turn down a 20K gift that will relieve allot of frustration and angst. In more civilized countries education is free to all citizens.

    5. Which countries are those?

    6. The Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Japan, Holland, and even England to a certain extent. All these countries regard Americans as less than civilized.

Fly some more plane loads of illegal immigrants into the USA, but only after midnight so no one notices.

    1. Better to fight the Russians with Ukrainians than Americans. Immigrants are the only thing keeping our demographics halfway favorable to business. Of course we are getting more.

Still in favor of student loan relief. It's getting people out of debt slavery.

  7. AUTHORITY? THE AUTHORITY FOR SPENDING MONEY RESIDES IN THE CONGRESS, SPECIFICALLY THE HOUSE. AT LEAST, THAT'S ACCORDING TO THE CONSTITUTION.
