In Hot Water

The waters off the coast of Florida is in the 90s right now. That’s hot -too hot. Coral is dying. The coral reefs are key to the marine food chain. That’s just one issue, if a big one.

You what else hot water is good for? It’s an excellent energy source for massive hurricanes. There are factors interfering with hurricane formation right now. Wind sheer is the big one. Saharian dust is another issue. However, it’s expected that conditions for hurricanes could improve drastically. If that happens the warm ocean waters will super charge hurricanes.

So here I am, looking at hurricanes again. New England is a long way from Florida but that doesn’t mean we are immune from the effects. About a dozen years ago the effects of tropical storm Irene clobbered Vermont. That could easily happen again. Of course, now it would be happening on top of record flood damage that’s still in progress.

What a lot of people don’t realize is how dependent on Gulf Coast fuels New England is. There’s a single major pipeline that supplies a lot of fuel. It’s been damaged in the past but was repaired just in time to prevent major shortages. Should it get a bit more damage the consequences would be dire.

Then there’s all the Gulf Coast production, shipping, and refining that shuts down when the storms move in.

Of course, my main concern is for people. While governments respond to disasters, it’s not instant. At least for the first few days you are most likely on your own. Be aware. Be safe.

  1. 6 Bears do you ever look at space weather? The sun has been growing more into one of its hot active phases in the last few years.

Going to get worse before it calms down again, then maybe a mini ice age action as the year without a summer of 1816 due to a massive volcano eruption blocked a lot of sun from our planet.

Being prepared is always a good option.

I am disturbed how many people's preps are violence because they think they can shoot themselves out of starvation and lack of safe water and lack of sewage processing (including septic tanks when they overload without pump outs).

I've done plenty of violence in my lifetime but then again, I've also done plenty of real-world field sanitation projects.

9 meals until chaos isn't just a meme.

  2. Yeah , they are also saying not only the Keys coral is is danger but throughout the Bahamas is also threatened.
Michael... The thought of violence to protect all of my stored beans from hungry neighbors does disturb me too. Yet better to have than not !
In all of the three B's.

  3. Michael, for sure I look at spaceweather.com , solarham and suspicious observers on a daily basis.
I don't get into the argument on the causes of global warming. Rather , I'm more inclined to argue about preparing for the inevitable. Obviously mankind isn't going to change his nasty habits. He has no choice, gotta feed the masses somehow.
Tend to agree with Doctor Ben on the sun and what to do about it

  4. Thanks for the reply Spud. I too see preparing better than complaining. All my B's are covered. Who is Dr. Ben? I'd like to check it out, if you don't mind.

He has a wealth of knowledge about solar cycles and pole shift. Here recently he has correlated the timing of past pole shifts , possibly linking past catastrophic events depicted in the Bible and other historical data to include geologic evidence etc.
On this site there are many previous YouTube videos on the subject

  5. Sun activity drives all weather on this planet. If he's not happy, she's not happy, and we pay the ferryman. Violence is a natural part of existence. Put to many rats in a box and they eat each other. Put human beings in the mix and first we eat the rats, then each other. Survival skills help, but if the Sun burps' just a little to much, very little will matter. The story of ants and a magnifying glass.

  6. It's a tough planet on which to establish a long lasting civilization.
