Bad Air

Apparently environmental issues don’t respect International borders. The air is pretty bad in much of the US due to fires in Canada. We’ve been pretty lucky so far in northern NH. While we’ve gotten a whiff of smoke now and then it’s no where near NY’s orange sky levels.

So why doesn’t the US help our neighbors up in Canada? Thanks to new rules put in during the Trump administration it’s almost impossible for US firefighters to work in Canada now. The two countries used to have a very good working relationship when it came to fires. Apparently Justin Trudeau had to be punished for perceived transgressions or something like that.

So with the obvious crisis, now stretching all the way down to D. C. itself, congress is at work. Are they tackling the problem? Of course not. They are debating about not letting Biden ban gas stoves. Funny thing, Republicans can’t even agree on that bit of political theater. Even their dysfunction is dysfunctional.

Just wait until the western fire season gets into high gear.

Still have those masks lying around?

  2. In the practical level the weather channel showed an excellent DIY mass air filter with 4 large high filtration filters in a cube with a large floor fan on top with duct tape. Works very well for massive air cleaning of your home.

On the political front, IS Everything wrong somehow Trumps fault?

Odd how people forget the two houses of Congress WRITE LAWS, Not the President.

FEEK FREE to SHOW me a LINK of Trump doing a EO about this Canadian nonsense statement.

I'm adult enough to admit when I am in error.

Unless like Biden He signs a massive pile of Executive Orders his FIRST DAY AT WORK to remove everything Trump did...

I THINK when it's a Repug in office they call that a Dictatorship or something.

Trump is Orville's 1984's Emmanual Goldstein

In the dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four (1949) by George Orwell, the Two Minutes Hate is the daily public period during which members of the Outer Party of Oceania must watch a film depicting Emmanuel Goldstein, the principal enemy of the state, and his followers, The Brotherhood, and loudly voice their hatred for the enemy and then their love for Big Brother.[1]

The political purpose of the Two Minutes Hate is to allow the citizens of Oceania to vent their existential anguish and personal hatred toward politically expedient enemies: Goldstein and the enemy super-state of the moment. In re-directing the members' subconscious feelings away from the Party's government of Oceania and toward non-existent external enemies, the Party minimizes thought crime and the consequent subversive behaviors of thoughtcriminals.[2]

I'm open to thoughtful discussion why I am incorrect.

It's NOT the Democrats vs the Republicans, they are BOTH part of the Uni-PARTY.

“Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.”
    ― George Orwell, 1984

    1. Okay. The Canada/US forest fire info I got from a Forest Service Firefighter.

As for Tump -the man currently under criminal indictment, has definitely done a lot of bad things. Some have been proven in court and more are on the way.

There is a difference between the parties. I used to be a small government Republican. Remember those? Then they started getting into everyone's private lives. On top of that, anyone who does not condemn Jan. 6 insurrection is a traitor to the principles of the country. I know that's hard for a lot of people to swallow, but History will prove me right.

    2. I hope ALL insurrections fail to bring weapons with them.

So much more peaceful that way.

Our founding fathers were Traitors to the Crown, think about that.

Really? care to list some of the Proven in Court (twitter and NY Times doesn't count) and the punishments thusly applied?

In New York they could indict a ham sandwich. BUT indict doesn't mean anything once it moves to a Real Courtroom I notice. Pity.

    4. I am looking at ABC news right now. 37 federal charges and one for espionage. Complete with film from Mara logo. Several bad things.

    6. When did you lose your love for your country? I don't indulge in conspiracy, I don't understand the courtroom reference.

    7. Courtroom reference? You mean like the LAWS that prevent such public shaming before a trail of the Courts?

Are you fond of sewing a Star of David or red A for adultery to someone's clothing and forcing them to wear it under penalty of law?

I'm an American. I don't do political parties I do the constitution.

I've made no secret that I despise all professional politicians. Scum at best, social paths most likely.

You know that innocent until proven guilty stuff and no repeat trials once you've been cleared of the indictment.

It the Republic for which it stands, Not "Our Democracy" which if you've very actually read the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and some of the history of the YEARS LONG Process they had to do to create those documents that our Founding Fathers DESPISED Democracy, labeling it correctly as Mob Rule.

So where dear sir do you figure dissent from THE PARTY's LINE is Anti-American?

When did I lose my "love of country"? That's RICH for an Indian that seems annoyed the Federal BLUE COATS harmed his ancestors, and HE SERVED the Same Federal Government as a military member?

      Cognitive dissonance much?

    8. Actually Michael I'm fairly familiar with the Constitution. I've sat through and taught more than a couple of Government classes. The truth of the matter is we are a Republic, not a Democracy. We use and misuse Democratic principles, but that's about as far as we go. Being an injun kid doesn't mean I'm at war with our government, I actually kinda like our government. It was after all copied from the Iriquoix Confederation. It's not the form of government that get's corrupted, it's the leaders that have ahold of the nose rings of the citizens. The only founding father that called Democracy Mob rule was Alexander Hamilton possibly the smartest one of the wigs, and he ended up bleeding to death. As far as my people are concerned, we kicked the ***IT out of the 7th Cavalry at the Little Big Horn. My back yard. So, I have no anger. Spent many years under a tree on top of the mountain. Of course showing up at my door my be disastrous for the knocker. So Youngster be a peace. There are many better things to die for. Peace and Balance, John

    9. I'm impressed you've taught a couple of government classes?

Yet you think stapling on Trumps forehead and parading him naked is like OK?

      Cognitive dissonance often?

    10. Heavy rusty staples. Dissonance is a musical disconnection that may sound glorious. I've also worked a couple floors my ownself. 80)
