The heat is on.
It’s looking bad from Texas to Florida. Hope everyone is prepared in case the grid goes down. The south is summer without AC is not a happy place.
Been there. Done that.
It’s one thing if you can get acclimated to the heat. The shock is not so bad if you spend time outside. Also helps to not keep your AC set to 63.
Of course, I live in the rather comfortable mountains of New Hampshire. For me the grid going down is more about not freezing to death in the winter. Everyone has gotten used to having electricity at their beck and call.
Now more than ever it’s important to have backup plans. Even a solar electric powered fan is better than nothing at all.

6 bears stop telling folks how nice we have it here.
ReplyDeleteLet's mention the hordes of blood sucking mosquitoes, ticks and hungry bears. The Nor'easters that force you to survive without Door Dash until the streets and YOUR Driveway is plowed.
I do agree a solar powered fan and lights is a nice option when our grid power has its more and more common hiccups. If nothing else to help US deal with our sodden hot spells and spread the heat from our wood stoves in our oft frozen winters.
Michael . . . it almost seems like you are trying to keep our little paradise secret. :)
Delete. . . as if we don't have a plan to blow bridges to stop the Golden Horde.
Ok fellas, Here come the Zombies.
DeleteI've looked at the maps and there too few bridges that can stop even the Massachusetts invaders. Let alone how many have timeshares here and thus feel "welcome " here.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how it is in your north woods but MA plates often exceed NH plates on weekends around the lakes region.
Michael
Yes, that's often the truth. We must not forget how much loot the southern horde gives us northern keepers of solitude.
DeleteMost in MA don't know there's anything north of North Conway.
DeleteThank God.
